No More Recalls! |

Dear friends, relations, and supporters, Well, the Recall election--and my gubernatorial candidacy--are finally over. What a relief! Many thanks to all who have supported, encouraged, advised, and helped publicize me along the way. Your efforts and sentiments have been much appreciated. I won't name everybody, but some of you were invaluable: John, Betsy, Alan W., Lynn Ruth, Andrew Leone, and Paul Niebanck. I will always remember your contributions with a smile. And special thanks to Chris Hunter for all that front-page coverage of my campaign--that's a nice benefit of living in a small town. A lot of you have asked how things have gone with the campaign, and I haven't always had a chance to answer properly. In case you're still interested, here is an article I wrote for the Pacifica Tribune, just before the election. I tried to lay out why I did this, what my platform was, and how it went. Some of you were also curious about the results of the election. I finished with about 750 votes, a mere 3,945,000 behind Arnold, and about 100 times my modest expectation. Last I counted, I was something like 68th out of the 135 candidates--somewhere in the middle of the pack. It's been quite an experience--and I'm going to miss being addressed as "future governor"! Thanks again for your encouragement along the way. Best wishes to all, Chris
